DreamWidth conversion progress report.
Hello DeadJournalians!

THIS IS SCSI MAYS HERE TO TELL YOU ABOUT AN IMPORTANT DJ UPDATE!

So as you can tell, I haven't been posting or doing anything public on DeadJournal for the past few months. Thats because I've been working on porting the Dreamwidth codebase to work with our DeadJournal database. We hope to have something working within a few months (fingers crossed). Its a ton of work, but I think the whole 4 people who still use this site deserve it.

Here is the progress:
  • Posting works.
  • Commenting works.
  • Friends/Groups and the DW equivalent of "Friends" is sorta-kinda-asking-for-help on the right track.

Once things get stable, I'll ask a few of the hard-core paid members for help with the testing. The DreamWidth crew are a ton of help and I know a few other old LJ sites are waiting to see how this turns out before they update their sites.

Thanks for your continued support in DeadJournal.

Thanks for all your hard work! I love DJ, it's the only online journal I've kept since high school.

I can't wait to see the updates when they're ready!

Its the LJ code forked by some old-time ex LJ employees, cleaned up, expanded and optimized.

Its removal of a good chunk of the crap and a lot more documentation and support. Its basically LJ before 6A bought out brad.

As for you, the DJ user, it means more features (like Inbox, better control over who reads/comments to your journal). All at the expense of a bug or two during the transition.

Ooh yay! I use DW too. I was sad when they said they could not import my DJ entries as there is 1,000 more here than at LJ, and you know how socially significant my posts are! hahahaha! :-p

You are a glutton for punishment!

Hooray! I don't use DJ much anymore (not too much into the angsty posting these days, despite much angst), but it's nice to know it's evolving and still here if I need it.

What qualifies as "hardcore?" I also appreciate DJ still being here. I don't want to migrate 6-1/2 years of journal entries to someplace else.

    Sounds great!

I do have a question, though... why are comment notifications and validation e-mails not being sent out?

There was an issue about certain email servers blocking DJ email (at the old DJ location I had notified all of the major ISP's about DJ's mail), however they have not "learned" since moving the site to a new location that the DJ emails are not spam.

Cryo is working on this and hopes to have it resolved soon.

Gmail, I think... but my friends and I (it was my friends, who had made journals, that I was more concerned about) are getting e-mails now. Thank you for resolving this. :D

Awesomesauce! I love DeadJournal and I'll be here using it and paying you my yearly tithing (lawl, religious humor, I can't believe I did that) until you make me leave >:3 I hope the new changes are really cool! Maybe my friends will come back to their accounts if they find the upgrades to be interesting enough. (That sure would make me happy anyway!)

But I've been using Dead Journal since I was in high school too! And I'll also be submitting payment for my yearly subscription as well. :]

Thanks for all your hard work!
