If you were born in a box, for the past 20 hours, DeadJournal looked like LiveJournal. The rumor was that LiveJournal had bought DeadJournal. We even had a mock LiveJournal-like DeadJournal logo.

This was an april fools joke. Duh. You would not believe the amount of hate mail and bitching I recieved in the past 24 hours about it. It turns out that most of the people got the joke, but a whole buttload were freaking out and in a tizzy.. I'll post most of the good emails (without names of course) later to another community for public viewing..

A lot of planning and work went into making this happen as well as it did. I would like to publically thank Brad and Jesse from LiveJournal.com for providing me with the idea (Brad) and for letting me borrow the xcolibur theme (Brad/Jesse). Yes, Brad from LiveJournal was in on this too, and all emails sent to deadjournal-merge@livejournal.com were forwarded to him and myself..

Brad and I cooked this plan up at the start of this month, and finalized the planning about a week ago. Last night Brad called me, and it was a go.

Thanks to all who really made this worth while.. Im sorry if I struck a nerve with some of you (whom cant take a friggin joke).. For all the work I put into this place, I need to have some fun with you all once in a while.. :)

I'll be more serious here in the future, except on april fools day.. :)

Well you definately fooled a lot of people, good job. People who cant take a harmless little joke can go blow that out their pipe and smoke it. I wanna read some hate mail and then bust a cap all these psycho's asses. Good day! :)

You know it would have been better if they switched to Deadjournal looks too but THANK GOD this was an april fools joke because alot of us were just blinking in sheer terror at the sight of it being like live journal

I'll admit, I might have fallen for it had I not already been pranked by a livejournal friend who posted a snapshot of a positive pregnancy test (not hers, of course). After that, I was expecting to be fucked with. And I was.

That was GREAT, man. I fell for it for a few minutes before I realized the date. I really have to appluad the joke. It was the best April Fool's joke I've seen in ages. Keep up the good work. ^_^ I look happily foreward to the joke next year.

It would have been funny, though, to see the LJ site done up in the black we know and love of DJ. I wonder if the LJ users would have been as up in arms as some DJ users were. "Oh dear GOD NO!! It's BLACK?!!!11one My EYES, the pain of the blackness!!"
