The Undead Report 2003 Yeah, so i'm a day late writing this thing. Here we go.
In case you are new, or have lived in a cave for the past 3 years; My name is Frank (
scsi) and I run this joint. This is sort of a recap of the year, and what I plan to do in 2004.
2003 was pretty good for DJ. We had some downtime, some stressful code upgrades, but overall, I do believe that the site as a whole is doing well.. Here are some notable highlights:
* Dumped a buttload of money into infrastructure. We went from having like 4 servers at the start of 2003 to over 12 today.
* Drove to Oregon to go meet up with Brad from LiveJournal and to buy their old Big/IP Load Balancers.
* Financially we're running in the black (just barely).
* The site is still up, and I still have some sanity left.
* A bunch more other stuff that I cant remember for the life of me.
Goals for 2004:
* Keep the site up, while remaining sane.
* Improve on infrastructure to keep the site fast during prime time.
* Maintain our good relations with LiveJournal.
* Site layout redesign
* SSL enabled login pages
* More frequent, less scary code upgrades (rather than infrequent, but really scary code upgrades)
For those of you who might be asking, we are NOT for the time being removing invite codes. I have been swarmed with pleas to keep the invite code system in place for various reasons, so they stay.
Again, thanks to all of the paid members for keeping this place running. I hope to see more of you all in 2004. :)
